when this young lion stayed around and moved little, it is sometimes hard to remember how quickly they can spring into action and collect a meal. In this case, he was simply looking at a herd of Impala which were approaching the river for water.

This young lion was photographed at the end of the day, where he was looking toward the river and waiting to drink. Like most younger lions he was curious about my presence and did look directly at me several times.

crossing to safety

this elephant herd protects the youngest by keeping them in their center, and after getting cooled off during their crossing, climb back onto land.

in light rain, this Impala dazzles us with his speed as he zipped through a meadow, out of harm's way.

These two cheetah hunted successfully together earlier in the day - and had fed on a nice male impala, the likes of which they would not have likely caught without teamwork. Here, as rain approached, they contemplate their next move, as one gives a slight caress to his brother in arms.
