Grizzly encounter: a very calm sow (female mother bear) lays down in a puddle within 8 feet of where i am standing still, to cool off in the 50 degree heat. With 2 new cubs, this bear was fully aware that be being close to me, her cubs might be safer from male bears who frequently prey on cubs.
